Summary: The aircraft took off from Addis Ababa to see how much food was reaching the famine-stricken area of western Ethiopia. The plane crashed into a mountain in poor weather conditons at an altitude of 3,600 feet. The crew flew into an area of bad weather at a very low altitude and failed to maintain visual contact with the ground. U.S. Representative George Thomas "Mickey" Leland, 45, killed.
