| Summary: | A Navy P-3C collided with a NASA research jet as it prepared to land at Moffett Naval Air Station. A ground controller mistakenly gave both planes permission to land on the same runway and the NASA plane settled on top of the P-3, 300 ft. off the ground. Both planes crashed onto a golf course. Five aboard the P-3 and 11 aboard the Convair were killed. |
